Apple Unveils First-Party Home Collection of Cameras, Locks and More
Apple releases its first‑party Home Collection of cameras, locks and more, co‑developed with LG and Schneider Electric.
Tech
Apple announced the launch of its own smart‑home lineup, the Apple Home Collection, marking the company’s shift from relying on third‑party manufacturers to offering first‑party devices. The new range includes indoor and outdoor cameras, thermostats, environmental sensors, a smart door lock and a video doorbell.
All of the Apple Home Collection products were co‑developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, leveraging the partners’ hardware expertise while integrating tightly with Apple’s HomeKit platform. The devices are designed to work with Apple’s new HomeView interface, which provides a unified dashboard for monitoring and controlling the home ecosystem.
The rollout follows more than a decade of Apple urging other makers to build HomeKit‑compatible accessories. By entering the market directly, Apple aims to set a higher standard for privacy, security and seamless user experience across its ecosystem.
Why It Matters
The launch gives U.S. and European consumers a privacy‑focused alternative in a market dominated by Google and Amazon, and could reshape competition among smart‑home vendors.
