ICE Agent Slams Houston Worker, Mistaking Him for Dead Suspect
ICE officer hits Houston worker, mistaking him for a dead suspect; worker injured, suspect's family says he died years ago.
World News
A federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Houston drove his vehicle into 48-year-old construction worker Miguel Parra Hernandez, breaking the man's leg. The officer said he was pursuing a suspect and believed Hernandez to be that individual.
Parra Hernandez, a Mexican national, remains hospitalized with multiple leg fractures and is scheduled for reconstructive ankle surgery, according to the immigration advocacy group FIEL. The group said the family of the alleged suspect provided documentation confirming the suspect died years earlier in a similar incident.
The incident raises questions about ICE's account of the pursuit and the use of force in immigration enforcement. FIEL called for a review of the officer’s actions and highlighted the need for clearer protocols to prevent misidentification.
Why It Matters
The case underscores concerns about law‑enforcement misidentification and the use of aggressive tactics in U.S. immigration operations, relevant to both American and European audiences.
