JustWatch Launches Own Streaming Service With Free Ads and $3.99 Tier
JustWatch adds a streaming service with free ad‑supported movies, a $3.99 ad‑free plan and rentals, expanding beyond its search guide role.

JustWatch, the streaming search platform used by about 50 million people, announced it is entering the content market with its own streaming service. The new offering will provide a library of movies and TV shows that users can watch for free with advertisements.
In addition to the ad‑supported tier, JustWatch will sell a $3.99‑per‑month subscription that removes ads and also allows users to rent individual titles. The company says the dual model is designed to attract both cost‑conscious viewers and those who prefer an uninterrupted experience.
The move marks a shift from JustWatch’s traditional role as a guide to becoming a direct competitor to established streaming services. By leveraging its existing user base, the company hopes to quickly scale its content catalogue and generate new revenue streams.
Why It Matters
US and European consumers gain another low‑cost streaming alternative, while the shift illustrates how guide services are moving into content distribution.
