Oura Rings Add Cardio Effort and Automatic VO2 Max Tracking
Oura rings now track Cardio Effort and automatic VO2 Max, giving users deeper insight into workout intensity and cardiovascular fitness.
Tech
Wearable maker Oura announced two new cardiovascular‑focused features for its smart rings. The updates, called Cardio Effort and Automatic VO2 Max (formerly Cardio Capacity), aim to give users clearer insight into how their workouts influence long‑term health.
Cardio Effort quantifies the intensity of each activity, while Automatic VO2 Max continuously estimates the maximum amount of oxygen the body can use during exercise. Both metrics are generated automatically from the ring’s existing sensors, eliminating the need for manual input.
Oura says the additions will help users decide whether to increase, maintain, or reduce their training load based on objective data, supporting more personalized fitness planning.
Why It Matters
Accurate cardio metrics help consumers in the US and Europe fine‑tune exercise routines, potentially reducing health risks linked to over‑ or under‑training.
