Spotify rolls out paid podcast memberships, offering ad‑free listening and early access while letting creators keep 90% of revenue.
Tech
Spotify announced a new paid‑membership model that lets podcasters sell exclusive perks to listeners. The offering includes ad‑free listening, early episode access and bonus content that goes beyond the standard free feed.
Under the program, creators retain 90 percent of the subscription revenue, while Spotify takes the remaining 10 percent. The platform says the model is designed to give podcasters a sustainable way to monetize loyal audiences without relying solely on advertising.
The service is now available to any podcaster on Spotify’s platform, and the company expects the feature to expand its podcast ecosystem as creators experiment with tiered fan experiences.
Why It Matters
The model could reshape podcast monetization in the U.S. and Europe, offering creators a direct revenue stream beyond ads.
